ABIDE! Today - November 6, 2010

"I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called"     -Ephesians 4:1

What defines your life?  Most of us have something that tends to define us.  You may have that one friend who is the "history buff."  Maybe there is the "science guy."  You know, that person you would have on your phone a friend list if you were ever on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?  In Ephesians 4:1, we are called to be defined by living in a way that is "worthy of the calling."  Would someone who knows you say to someone, "If you want to meet someone sold out for Jesus, you've gotta meet my friend..."?

As a husband, I want to be the kind of husband that my amazing wife deserves.  Who she is makes me want to be a husband "worthy" of such a woman.  As you think about Jesus - your King, your Savior, and your God - are you living in a way that is "worthy" of Him?  Are you the kind of Christian He would have you to be?

Certainly we will all fall short of this.  However, we tend to lean heavy on the inability to do this rather than be motivated to become more like this with each and every day.  Are you walking closer with Jesus today than you did yesterday?  If not, what held you back?  What got in the way?  If you answered "yes," will you seek to walk closer to Him tomorrow than today, or rest on the satisfaction of today?

Never be content.  Never stop growing in Him.  Draw closer to Him every day.  Allow Him to transform you into a Christian "worthy" of the King of kings and Lord of lords!
