Welcome to day #1 of the ABIDE! Challenge. This post is coming in a little late - sorry. I had a terrible time uploading this week's ABIDE! Radio episode. Anyway, all this week (and after that we'll see) I will be making a short devotional thought for each day to help you through the ABIDE! Challenge. The theme of each will focus on taking you a little deeper in those areas of prayer, worship and time in God's Word.
So, let me kick it off this way - let me challenge you in regards to the hour you will be spending with God every day. Now, technically there is no rule about when that time takes place. In other words, you could do four 15-minute segments throughout the day, two 30-minute segments, etc. I would urge you to make it one solid block of 60-minutes.
I only share this out of my own experience. I have found that one hour of chopped up time throughout the day just isn't the same as an entire one hour block of time. I know it can sometimes take me 15 minutes just to get my mind focused on the Lord. If I was approaching my hour in 15-minute blocks, I would stop just I was I was starting to actually focus on the Lord. I guess it is the same principle as doing 100 push-ups at once compared to doing 10 push-ups every other hour.
You can do it. Be intentional. Carve out that hour somewhere in your day. Perhaps that can be a goal you work up to as the week goes by, or maybe that will be your goal for next week. Nevertheless, however you do it, spend that hour with Him today.
I am praying for you!
